Few things in life are better than a decadent tart filled with rich, smooth chocolate surrounded by a buttery crust. Well, at least that’s what we thought until we made this salted chocolate tart with a yummy potato chip crust.

Ingredients

Potato Chip Crust

  • 1 bag of kettle chips
  • ½ stick of unsalted butter, melted
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour, whole wheat or gluten free

Chocolate Filling

  • 1/4 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 package semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Dash of finely ground sea salt

Chocolate Ganache topping

  • 8 ounces bittersweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Combine crust ingredients in a food processor and pulse for 30 to 45 seconds.
  3. Press the potato chip crust into a 9-inch tart pan.
  4. Bake for 12 minutes, then remove and let cool.
  5. While the crust is cooling, melt the cream and chocolate chips for the chocolate filling and whisk until no lumps remain. Slowly incorporate remaining chocolate filling ingredients, whisking gently over medium heat.
  6. Pour the chocolate filling into the cooled tart shell and bake for 20 to 25 minutes. Let cool for 30 minutes before topping with chocolate ganache.
  7. Prepare the chocolate ganache topping by mixing the cream in a small saucepan with bittersweet chocolate. Whisk together over medium heat until fully melted and smooth.
  8. Using a spatula, coat the top of the chocolate filling with the chocolate ganache mixture and chill for at least a few hours in the fridge.
  9. Sprinkle a dash of sea salt on each slice before serving. Add fresh raspberries or strawberries if desired.
