  • 1 pound of ground beef (lean)
  • 1 onion (diced)
  • 3 carrots (diced)
  • 2 tbsp of all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp of ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp of Italian seasoning
  • 2 tbsp of fresh parsley (chopped)
  • 1 1/2 cups of beef broth
  • 1 tbsp of tomato paste
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 4 potatoes (diced and peeled)
  • 1/4 cup of softened butter
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1/4 pound of Cheddar cheese (shredded)


  1. Preheat your oven 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. To make the filling, place a skillet on the stove over medium-heat.
  3. Crumble the ground beef and sauté it for a minute.
  4. Add carrot, onion, and sauté it for 5 minutes.
  5. Include the seasoning, parsley, flour, and cinnamon into it.
  6. Mix tomato paste and beef broth in a bowl.
  7. Add beef mixture, salt, and black pepper to taste.
  8. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for 15 minutes, stirring frequently.
  9. Pour the mixture in a pie plate (9-inch).
  10. To make potato topping, put the potatoes in a pan, add water to cover them, and place the pan over high heat.
  11. Boil the potatoes for 15 minutes and drain.
  12. Mash the potatoes, add butter, then milk, and whip.
  13. Add black pepper and salt to taste, spread it over the beef filling, and sprinkle cheese on top of it.
  14. Place the pie plate in the oven for about 25 minutes.
