Ingredients
- 4 large-sized potatoes
- Salt, 1 tsp
- Butter, 3 tbsp
- Sour cream, 2 tbsp
- Milk, ½ cup + more if required
- Kosher salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Fresh chives (chopped), 2 tbsp for garnish
- Butter block (softened), for garnish
Preparation
- Fill a pot with water and add salt. Peel potatoes and cut into thick slices. Add to the pot.
- Set over med-high heat and bring to a boil. Cook for 20 minutes or until potatoes are fork tender. Drain and place potatoes in a large mixing bowl.
- Use a potato ricer to mash it up. Stir in milk, butter, and sour cream. Season with salt and pepper. Use a rubber spatula to combine everything. Add more milk to adjust consistency if required.
- Adjust flavors and add more salt and pepper if needed.
- Garnish with thinly chopped chives.
- Mashed potatoes are the most favorite vegetable side dish to accompany steaks. Serve immediately with a softened butter block on the top and enjoy!
