Ingredients

  1. 1 can of black beans (drained and rinsed)
  2. 1 can of Great Northern beans (drained and rinsed)
  3. 1 cooked boneless skinless chicken breast (shredded)
  4. 1 onion (sliced)
  5. 1 tbsp of crushed red pepper
  6. 2 tbsp of butter
  7. 3 bratwurst links
  8. 3 stalks celery (chopped)
  9. 30 oz. of chicken broth (low-sodium)
  10. 4 basil leaves
  11. 4 carrots (chopped)
  12. Salt and black pepper to taste

Preparation

  1. In a Dutch oven, heat butter over medium heat.
  2. Include onion and cook for 2 minutes.
  3. Slice the sausage link into small pieces.
  4. Add the sausage into the oven, cooking it until browned.
  5. Include celery, carrots, and cook for 2 minutes.
  6. Include black beans, chicken broth, basil, crushed red pepper, salt, chicken, and Great Northern beans.
  7. Bring the mixture to a boil and decrease heat.
  8. Allow it to simmer for 20 minutes before serving it.
