Shrimps are just incredibly delicious and taste out of this world. That’s the reason they are enjoyed in different seafood recipes across the states. This garlicky grilled shrimp recipe is all you need to beat the blues.
Ingredients
- 9 star anise
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons dried chives
- 2 pounds (16 to 20 size) shrimp, deveined
- 1 teaspoon tobarashi (Japanese 7-spice)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 tablespoon dried parsley flakes
For Ponzu Sauce:
- 6 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 6 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons ginger juice
- 2 teaspoons chopped fresh chives
- 2 tablespoons lime juice
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon minced parsley leaves
Preparation
- For the shrimp rub, smash coriander, dried chives, coriander, star anise, tobarashi, salt, and garlic powder using a mortar and pestle.
- Rub the shrimp with this mixture, cover, and refrigerate for one hour.
- To make the Ponzu sauce, you will need to combine the vinegar, lemon juice, chives, brown sugar, and ginger juice such that the brown sugar has dissolved.
- Heat grill and skewer shrimps to begin grilling.
- Grill them until they turn pink and opaque, and place in a container and pour the Ponzu sauce on top.
