Fried oysters are commonly served in most of the seafood restaurants in America. They taste divine and can be made at home in a few minutes. These fried oysters can be enjoyed with the sauce of your choice and are perfect to cook for friends and family for lunch.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups vegetable oil, for frying
  • 2 tablespoons Essence
  • 16 freshly shucked oysters, about 1 pint, drained
  • 1/2 cup masa harina
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Preparation

  1. Combine 1 tablespoon of the Essence with the buttermilk in a bowl.
  2. Now add the oysters in the bowl and marinate for 20 minutes.
  3. In a separate dish, combine together the remaining Essence and the masa harina flour.
  4. In a medium pot, heat oil over medium heat.
  5. Now place the oysters in the flour mixture and cover them in the batter.
  6. Shake the pieced to get rid of the excess flour and add to the hot oil.
  7. Cook the oysters turning sides occasionally.
  8. Once the oysters are golden from both sides, plate them out over paper towels and enjoy.
