These gooey bars pair perfectly with a steaming mug of hot cocoa or cappuccino. Whip up a big batch and enjoy them for days (well, if you have more self-control than we do).

Ingredients

Crust

  • 1 box of Devil’s Food cake mix
  • 1 stick of butter, melted
  • 1 large egg

Filling

  • 1 can of sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup of chopped pecans
  • 1 cup of shredded coconut
  • 1/2 cup of chocolate chips

Preparation

  1. Combine the crust ingredients in a large bowl and stir well, then press into the bottom of a greased 9 x 13 pan.
  2. Bake the crust for 7 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. As the crust bakes, combine all of the filling ingredients except the chocolate chips.
  3. Remove the crust from the oven, then pour the filling onto the crust. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top of the filling.
  4. Return the pan to the oven and bake for 24 to 28 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  5. Remove, let cool, then cut into squares.
