Ingredients

  • ¾ cup water
  • 1 tbspn taco seasoning
  • ½ tbspn dried minced onions or 1 tspn onion powder
  • 1 cup TVP (textured vegetable protein)
  • 1 can of black beans, drained
  • Salt
  • Tortillas
  • Toppings (all optional): Avocado slices, cilantro, salsa, limes, red onion, etc.

Preparation

  1. Boil water, onion, and seasoning.
  2. Add the TVP and reduce heat to low.
  3. Allow the TVP to absorb the liquid.
  4. Add beans.
  5. Cover and cook on low heat. Stir.
  6. Add salt.
  7. Heat up the tortillas either in a pan or on a grill.
  8. Remove the filling from the heat and build your tacos using your choice of garnishes.
