Ingredients
- 1 cup of cake flour (sifted)
- 5 eggs
- 1 tsp of baking powder
- 1 tsp of almond extract
- 3/4 cup of sugar
- 1/4 tsp of salt
- 1/2 tsp of cream of tartar
Preparation
- Line a cake pan with parchment paper (8 X 8)
- In a bowl, add flour, salt, and baking powder.
- From the eggs, separate the yolks from the egg whites.
- In another bowl, beat the egg whites.
- Add cream of tartar and beat again.
- Add 1/4 cup of sugar and beat for about 1 minute.
- Add the yolks and 1/2 cup of sugar.
- Beat the mixture for 2 minutes.
- Add the almond extract, egg mixture, flour mixture, and stir to mix, but do not beat.
- Fill the cake pan with the batter.
- Bring the wok to a boil, and then turn down the heat.
- Steam and cover the cake for about 25 minutes.
- Insert a toothpick to see if it is fully cooked through.
- Cool the cake at room temperature.
- Cut into squares and serve.
