Do you have a taste for spicy drinks? This ginger-lime cocktail recipe is definitely for those who like spicy drinks. This cocktail also has a tangy flavor from the lemons, and is perfect for pairing up with nachos and dip snacks.
Ingredients
Fresh Ginger Syrup
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 1/2 ounces fresh ginger (about 4 inches long), peeled
The Cocktail
- 3/4 ounce fresh ginger syrup
- 2 ounces Bulleit rye whiskey
- 1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice (from 1 to 2 limes)
Garnish
- Lime twist or lime wheel
Preparation
- First you need to make the ginger syrup by slicing the ginger into smaller chunks and add them to the bottom of a mixing glass.
- Mix the ginger in such a way that it is broken up properly.
- Strain ginger juice using a strainer and press onto the chunks to get all the juice in them.
- In a small glass, pour 1/2 ounce ginger juice and mix in the sugar so that it is dissolved.
- Make sure that the mixture is thick.
- Once the ginger syrup is made, it is time to make the cocktail.
- Take a cocktail shaker and add 3/4 ounce ginger syrup, rye and lime juice.
- Fill the shaker with ice and shake for 15 seconds so that the mixture is chilled.
- Pour this drink into a glass and enjoy with your choice of garnish.
