Hot fudge sundae cakes are very popular because of their gooey and cakey texture. Plus it tastes even better with vanilla ice cream, which makes this cake the perfect dessert. Below we have a traditional recipe for this divine cake.
Ingredients
- 2/3 cup light brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 tablespoons mild olive oil
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup & 5 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon espresso powder
- 1/2 cup & 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup heavy cream, chilled
- 1 cup flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups boiling water
Preparation
- Spray cooking oil in a slow cooker.
- Mix together 2 tablespoons cocoa, salt, baking powder, ½ cup granulated sugar, and the flour in a bowl.
- Add milk into the bowl alongside vanilla and olive oil, and scrape this mixture into the slow cooker and make sure you smooth the batter from top.
- Now combine ¼ cup cocoa powder, the espresso powder, and the brown sugar in a bowl.
- Add in the boiling water and pour this mixture over the batter.
- Cover the cooker and cook the mixture on high.
- Insert a toothpick in the mixture and when it comes out clean, the cake is cooked.
- Once done, let the cake cool for 30 minutes.
- In a small bowl combine together 3 tbsp cocoa, 1/3 cup granulated sugar, and whisk in the cream. Cover this bowl and cool in the fridge for 30 minutes.
- When the mixture has cooled, add to a beater and mix until soft peaks form.
- Scoop out the cake and pour sauce on top.
- Finish it off with the cocoa and the whipped cream.
