Ingredients

  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups of white sugar (divided)
  • 1 tsp of baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp of salt
  • 6 tbsp of butter (cold)
  • 1/4 cup of hot water
  • 2 tbsp of cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup of cold water
  • 1 tbsp of lemon juice
  • 4 cups blackberries (rinsed and drained)

Preparation

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Use aluminum foil to line a baking sheet.
  3. Combine 1/2 cup of sugar, flour, salt, and baking powder in a bowl.
  4. Place the butter in the mixture and stir to crumble it.
  5. Add in 1/4 cup of hot water to make the mixture moist.
  6. In another bowl, add cornstarch and water to dissolve it.
  7. Add in the rest of the sugar, blackberries, and lemon juice.
  8. Transfer everything to an iron skillet, bring to a boil, and stir.
  9. Drop the dough balls into the skillet, place the skillet on the baking sheet, and bake for about 25 minutes.
