If you are not in the mood to play it safe by baking a cake for your guests, this Caramel-Apple Ice Cream is the right kind of dessert that you should try. This recipe is a perfect combination of caramelized apples and vanilla ice cream. Could it get any better?
Ingredients
- Crumbled gingersnaps for garnish
- Chocolate shavings for garnish
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 pints vanilla ice cream
- 2 apples peeled, quartered, and very thinly sliced
- 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup dulce de leche
- 1 tablespoon sugar
Preparation
- In a medium skillet, melt the butter and add apples.
- Cook apples over medium heat while stirring the apples until they are soft and brown.
- Add ¼ cup water, cinnamon, and sugar, and cook for 2 minutes.
- Now add dulce de leche and stir until it has completely melted.
- Once done, transfer this mixture into a bowl and refrigerate until chilled.
- Add the apple mixture into softened vanilla ice cream and freeze for 4 hours.
- Scoop the dessert into glasses and garnish with chocolate shavings or anything that you like.
