Classic Macaroni and Cheese

Classic Macaroni and Cheese(3 of 4)

The old favorite with a basil garnish, this will appeal especially to the little ones

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 (16 oz) pack Elbow macaroni
  • 1 (12 oz can) Evaporated milk
  • 1 tbsp Butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Dried basil for garnish

Preparation

  1. Bring 2-3 liters of lightly salted water to a boil, add the macaroni and cook till tender. Drain.
  2. Take a medium sized casserole dish and grease well.
  3. Layer a quarter of the cooked macaroni at the bottom and top with an even layer of around a quarter of the cheese slices.
  4. Season with the salt and pepper and drizzle with butter.
  5. Repeat the layering 3 times and top with evaporated milk.
  6. Bake until golden brown on top, garnish with dried basil and serve.
