There are times when you feel like having sponge pudding, but thinking of the efforts and the time it takes, you decide to go with ready-made alternatives from the bake-shop. But this sponge pudding recipe is not only simple, but can be made in just 15 minutes.

You can make this pudding anytime you desire and top it with the syrup or jam of your choice.


  • 2 tablespoons jam or syrup
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • 50g butter
  • 50g self raising flour
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 50g caster sugar


  1. Take a medium sized bowl and add butter and sugar into it.
  2. Mix well until both the ingredients are properly combined.
  3. Now add in the egg and milk while whisking.
  4. Make sure you add the egg and the milk gradually so that the butter doesn’t curdle.
  5. Add in the flour and fold.
  6. Take a microwave-safe bowl and add 2 tablespoons of golden syrup or jam in the bottom.
  7. Now pour the batter into the bowl over the syrup or jam.
  8. Cover the bowl and cook for 3.5 minutes on full power.
  9. Check the pudding and its consistency to ensure that it is ready to be served.
